When setting up your Minecraft server on exaroton, the region determines the physical location of the servers that host your game. This can affect your connection speed and latency, so it's important to select the correct region for the best experience. We currently offer two server regions:
- Europe
- North America
We offer broader regions instead of specific countries or cities to allow us to deploy your server dynamically based on the current availability. This ensures the best usage of our available resources to keep the price as low as possible for you.
How is the server region selected?
By default, exaroton automatically selects the region for your server. This ensures that you are connected to the closest server region, offering the best performance.
How to manually select or change your server region
If you prefer to manually choose your server region, or if you need to change it after setting up your server, follow these steps:
1. During server creation:
- When creating a new server, you will have the option to select your preferred server region in the setup menu.
- The region will default to the one closest to you, but you can manually choose the right region.
2. After the server is created:
- If you need to change the region after the server has been created, you can do so from the server options page.
- Navigate to options in your server dashboard, and look for the region setting.
- From there, you can select the region and save your changes.
When should I change the server region?
You might want to change your server region if:
- Your player base is primarily located in a different region than your default one.
- You are experiencing higher than usual latency or connection issues and want to test if another region offers better performance.
Keep in mind that selecting the correct region for your player base can greatly improve the gameplay experience for everyone involved.
Is there a price difference between server regions?
No, all server regions currently have the same price of 1 credit / GB RAM / hour.
